Currently posted in the mental health unit of Manly Hospital, Dr Naresh Verma has recently qualified as an Occupational Psychiatrist. During this training, Dr Verma completed medical assessments including CTP claims for both physical and psychological injury assessments.
Throughout his career, Dr Verma has managed acutely unwell psychiatric patients in the both public and private hospitals. Dr Verma has covered a wide range of hospital settings including general wards, Psychiatric Emergency Care Centre’s (PECC) and the emergency and mental health ICU (MHICU).
Dr Verma’s work as Police Medical Officer for NSW Police from 2008-2014, introduced him to the specialist field of psychological injury. His subsequent role as Occupational Physician for Fire and Rescue NSW, saw Dr Verma perform pre-placement medical assessments, medical retirement reviews and fitness for work assessments for NSW Firefighters.
Dr Verma has experience with both physical and psychological trauma. He completed a rural secondment to Broken Hill and has worked with Nuclear Medicine at Wollongong Hospital.
Dr Verma has presented at medical meetings including Grand Rounds and has been involved in teaching medical students and presenting educational sessions for nursing staff and carers.
In addition to clinical roles, Dr Verma is a leader in junior registrar mentoring, rostering, management and quality improvement initiatives.
Dr Verma is a published author with a number of pieces appearing in medical journals, namely Clinical Nuclear Medicine in 2002 and Australasian Radiology in 2006.
